Thaddeus Young Trade Rumors: Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors Options For Philadelphia 76ers As Clippers, Toronto Raptors Interested?

The Philadelphia 76ers are set up to be one of the most active team at the NBA trading deadline in February and one name that could be moving is forward Thaddeus Young and two teams that could be interested includes the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors, while others like the LA Clippers and Toronto Raptors could be fits as well.

Young has been mentioned in reports as a player that is likely to move at the deadline and the Sixers have said since earlier in the offseason that they would be willing to make moves during the season. According to Hoopsworld.com, GM Sam Hinkie is planning on shopping both Young and Evan Turner this season at the deadline and another player that could be available is Spencer Hawes and right now the heat is on Young. The report from SB Nation about the trade says that Young previously denied reports that he requested a trade last month and despite that, the Suns appear to be the top interested team.

Hinkie wants draft picks in return for his top young players and that is likely what he will be asking for if he deals Young and that is another reason why the Suns are a nice fit. The team picked up draft picks in various deals this offseason after making moves with the Los Angeles Clippers and the Indiana Pacers and they may be willing to part with one or multiple picks to pull off the deal. The Suns have been one of the most surprising teams in the NBA this season and right now they are in a playoffs position and with Eric Bledsoe playing very well, making a move here could push the team into the middle to top part of the west. Goran Dragic has come on since Bledsoe came over and the Suns have been playing some solid defense recently as well.

There were rumors that the Sixers could trade for Houston big man Omer Asik, but with the Rockets wanting draft picks for him, Philly could look elsewhere for a move and the Suns as well as those other teams mentioned could be options. If Young wants to get traded, he is doing a great job enhancing his value, as he was named one of the players of the week by the NBA last week after helping the team win three games while averaging 25 points and 7.7 rebounds and nearly four steals per game during that stretch.

Young has been playing well and with the Suns hanging on in the standings in the West, snagging a player like Young could make the team into a surprise playoff contender. The Suns could be very pesky for the top teams in the league and as they try to rebuild, adding Young is a solid move.
