New Jersey governor Chris Christie will hold a press conference on Thursday to address the growing scandal involving the George Washington Bridge lane closures and after months of denials, emails that surfaced yesterday showed that his office was directly involved and impacts from the traffic closures and investigation could have an effect on the Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium in February.

Christie made light of the scandal for weeks and Fox News did not report on the story for hours and then asked viewers to go "Google" the emails rather than read them out loud, as they decided to act like the scandal was no big deal despite the fact that a woman died while waiting for emergency services that were stuck in traffic on the days in question, so yeah, a big joke. Student could not get to school on the first day of classes due to the traffic and Christie's aides joked with each other over email and text messages that the kids were children of Barbara Buono voters, who opposed him in the governor election.

Christie will be holding a presser at the Statehouse on Thursday at 11 am to answer questions and while he may not have directly known about what happened, he claimed for weeks that no one on his staff or in his office knew about it and in a statement he basically said, I know nothing about anything and I had nothing to do with it at all.

Basically his argument is, my staffers do whatever they want and even when there were days of closures and complaints coming to the office, I did not know anything about it and did not concern myself with it. Great way to show leadership. Either way, the fact that Christie is a national figure makes this a national story and plays into the narrative that Christie is a bully that takes out revenge on his opponents and now he will have to face reporters. There are a ton of things that do not add up in this story and he likely will not be able to get past this to run for president, as this is a huge scandal because of how flippant and sarcastic Christie has been about the situation, which may have resulted in the death of a woman and the police also had issues about searching for a missing child during the traffic jam as well.
