BCS National Championship Final Results: Florida State Wins Title Game Over Auburn Before College Football Playoff For 2014 Season

Auburn and Florida State played in the final BCS National Championship game on Monday night and it ends a dramatic and interesting 16-year experiment that college football used to decide their national title and while many felt that the system often did not work, many agree that this season the Seminoles and the Tigers were the two best teams in the country for the 2013 season.

The BCS started off with Florida State losing to Tennessee and now the Seminoles are back for the final game and this is their third appearance in the championship game after making it in 1998 and 2000. Auburn is back after winning three years ago and the SEC has won seven championships in a row with Alabama taking the next two and three of the last four. Notre Dame finished as the runner up last season and now they will finish the BCS era with one appearance and next year it will be the college football playoff and it will have the top four teams going at it in that format for the first time.

If the playoff system were used this season on the BCS standings, the matchups would be Florida State playing against Michigan State in the Sugar Bowl and Alabama would be playing Auburn in the Rose Bowl and those matchups of course would have been very interesting, especially if Auburn and Alabama could have played again after that amazing Iron Bowl game.

The BCS wasn't perfect and it wasn't always right, but it did the job.
