Kyle Lowry Trade Rumors: Golden State Warriors Option if Andre Miller Not Available, Denver Nuggets Explore Deals After Brian Shaw Incident

After generating plenty of trade buzz, it appeared the Toronto Raptors may opt to hold on to Kyle Lowry. Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears had noted that the team was considering the idea of holding on to Lowry in order to make a real run at the Atlantic Division. After interest from teams like the New York Knicks, the move was surprising, but now talks are amping up once again but with the Golden State Warriors.

Lowry is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and with Greivis Vasquez on the roster, the Raptors have no real reason to keep the point guard around. Lowry has not been thrilled with Toronto and has been seeking a move for some time. The Raptors are towing the line between contenders and rebuilders and trading Lowry could help build for a strong future.

Yahoo! Sports confirms that the Golden State Warriors are shopping for a backup point guard and will likely take a shot at getting Lowry. The 27-year-old is averaging 15.6 points and 7.4 assists in over 36 minutes of play. He would be an excellent addition to any roster willing to take him.

The Warriors are also in the mix for Denver Nuggets point guard Andre Miller. The point guard was suspended for two games following an altercation with head coach Brian Shaw. Now that the two are not on the same page, the Nuggets are exploring trade option and the Warriors are the first to express interest.

The Warriors main goal is to get insurance behind Stephen Curry. The team's second unit is one of the worst in the league in points per game and they are hoping to change that in time for the playoffs.

Miller would be the more sensible option over Lowry simply because the Raptors point guard is a starter. He is playing strong basketball right now and expects to be on the court. Golden State has Curry who Lowry would get stuck behind. Miller is a savvy veteran with playoff experience. He is averaging 5.9 points and 3.3 assists in about 19.0 minutes per game. He could be a true asset to the Warriors come playoff time.

The Nuggets are still coy on whether or not Miller is available. According to the Denver Post, the team is attempting to smooth over the situation between the point guard and Shaw instead of making a panic trade. That would leave the door open for Lowry.
