Dallas Cowboys Rumors: John Skelton and David Carr Work Out After Tony Romo Injury Before Eagles Game In Week 17

Dec 24, 2013 11:04 AM EST

The Dallas Cowboys pulled out an exciting game against the Washington Redskins on Sunday after some magic from Tony Romo, but now it appears that magic is done for this season, as the quarterback has a back injury and could miss the Week 17 matchup against the Eagles and that is why the team will work out free agent quarterbacks John Skelton and David Carr.

According to Pro Football Talk, the team will work out both Skelton and Carr and while the team has not ruled out Tony Romo officially yet, backup Kyle Orton is preparing as if he will start. The team did not have any other QBs on the roster and Orton comes in after having started many games with the Chicago Bears in his career and the Broncos as well and now Carr could be the option as a backup after he was with the Giants for a couple years. Skelton was with the Cardinals last season and now the Cowboys are going to check out these two names.

The Cowboys have dealt with Romo being out before, including back in 2010 when he broke his collarbone against the Giants and put the team at 1-5 and that left Jon Kitna to start. The Cowboys pulled back and went 4-5 over the next nine games and then won the season finale, so it's possible the team can deal without Romo.

The Eagles looked amazing on Sunday night when they had nothing to play for and if Romo is out, that could mean big trouble for the Cowboys.
