Aaron Hernandez's girlfriend and fiancé Shayanna Jenkins appeared in court with his mother Terri Hernandez on Monday as lawyers sparred about a media gag order and whether the former NFL star could receive a fair trial due to leaks and other issues regarding police documents and unnamed sources.
Jenkins appeared in the gallery and looked stylish in bright lipstick as well as a striped shirt and it comes a little while after she had to appear in court to face perjury charges. The pretrial hearing for Hernandez is coming nearly six months after he was arrested and victim Odin Lloyd was found murdered and there still is no trial date set in the case. Hernandez has remained in jail all this time and is charged with first degree murder in the case.
Jenkins has been to most of Hernandez's court hearings and dates and she is still dealing with her own issues, as she has been accused of perjury, although her lawyer denies the charges. The fact that it's a murder case makes the charges even more serious and she could face hefty charges if it is found out that she lied to the grand jury in the case.
Police looked into Jenkins for possibly disposing of the murder weapon and lying about it and so far no murder weapon has been found in the case, but that will not stop the legal teams from pursuing murder charges. According to Jenkins, she went to sleep early the night of the murder and reports have Hernandez and two other men picking up the victim in the case hours before he was found dead.
