Arsenal Transfer News: Lucas Biglia Linked With Gunners; Stevan Jovetic to Stay at Fiorentina

Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia.

The Gunners have been long-term admirers of the Anderlecht player and according to several reports are ready to make a bid. Arsenal, however, will face competition from Real Madrid, who are also interested in the defensive midfielder.

Biglia had a successful season with Anderlecht with his team-mate Matias Suarez also heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.

The Argentine has previously stated his desire to move to a bigger European club and said Arsenal and Real Madrid were interested in him. "Real Madrid and Arsenal have both been in contact and I'll wait to see what happens," Biglia said.

"I have a contract with Anderlecht until 2015, but the club know that I intend to leave. We have negotiated my buyout clause and if a club comes to pay it, Anderlecht will let me go."

Biglia has only six caps for Argentina and, therefore, might find it tough to get a work permit in England.

Arsenal have been jolted in their move for highly-rated player Stevan Jovetic. Arsenal reportedly failed to sign the playmaker last summer after their bid was rejected by the Italian club. Fiorentina confirmed the Montenegro international, who is also a target for Inter Milan and Juventus, plans to stay with the club next season.

"We have a very long contract with Jovetic, and recently, his agent reiterated that the player would like to remain in Florence, so there will be no sale," Fiorentina president Mario Cognigni told Radio CRC.

"In Italian football it is difficult for all clubs to keep their main assets, but Jovetic has expressed his desire to stay and it's highly unlikely that he will be tempted away."

Arsenal centerback Laurent Koscielny has put his weight behind Yann M'Vila's proposed move to Arsenal. "I don't know what plans the club have in terms of signings," he told Goal.com.

"But I would like one of my French team-mates to join us for next season. Yann is a player with enormous quality. He is strong on the ball and has great vision. He can triumph in an important competition like the Premier League.

"Would he be good at Arsenal? Of course. I will try to convince him to come when we are together at the Euros."

Meanwhile, Robin Van Persie said he will discuss his future only after the European Championships end. Talking to Tuttosport, Van Persie said: "I agreed not to discuss my future with Arsenal. I can only say that my intention is to play in the European Championship. And then go on to win the Champions League."

Arsenal reject Denilson confirmed his preference to stay at Sao Paulo. The midfielder was sent out on loan last season and said the Brazilian club are keen on making the move permanent. "There is the possibility of maybe signing a four or five-year contract," Denilson told Estadao.

"My lawyer talked to Arsenal and they asked to wait to see what happens in the Brazilian Cup before talking again.

"Anything could happen. Sao Paulo are doing their best to keep me, but I prefer to focus on my work and think about that later. I have already done my part, showing my intention of remaining here."

Arsenal veteran Tomas Rosicky is being linked with a move to Turkish club Eskisehirspor. The Czech Republic captain enjoyed his best season with Arsenal since his move in 2006 and also signed a new contract in March. Therefore, it will be highly unlikely that the 31-year-old to leave North London this summer.

Arsenal youngster Oguzhan Ozyakup, however, is close to a move to Besiktas. The club have already reportedly agreed an $875,000 fee with Arsenal, with a 25% sell on fee, and personal terms are being discussed. The Turkish club released the following statement: "Negotiations with Arsenal FC over Oguzhan Ozyakup have begun."

The Dutch-born Turkish midfielder failed to make an impact at Arsenal, making only two first-team appearances after moving from AZ Alkmaar in 2008.
