NY Knicks Trade Rumors: Iman Shumpert Deal An Option For Dion Waiters As Cavaliers Trading Star To Chicago Bulls For Luol Deng?

The New York Knicks are having a tough season and a shake up with a trade might be necessary to get things on track and another franchise in the Cleveland Cavaliers looks like they feel the same way, as the team is shopping second year player Dion Waiters and the Knicks and Iman Shumpert could be a potential deal that the team will explore.

This isn't the first time Shumpert has been mentioned in trade rumors, as the Knicks were reportedly talking with the Denver Nuggets about Kenneth Faried and now his name has come up again. According to ESPN.com, the Cleveland Cavaliers are shopping young star Dion Waiters to teams around the league after he got into a dispute with a couple of his teammates and some options could include Shumpert, Evan Turner and Luol Deng. The report says that the Cavaliers have spoken with a number of teams to gauge potential interest and to see what value they could get and the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers have been the main teams contacted.

Waiters was drafted fourth overall two years ago and the main reason for the split has come from an incident during a team meeting last week that the players had after a tough loss. The team spoke about issues going on and when Waiters had his chance, he accused Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson of playing "buddy ball" and Thompson took exception to that, but he was stopped before anything got physical. Waiters also spoke to coach Mike Woodson and GM Chris Grant about other issues, including Irving getting away with playing soft defense and all these issues could end up with Waiters getting traded.

The team fell to Miami on Wednesday night to fall to 4-11 and Waiters said after the game that some of the rumors about the story were not true, as some reported that the two got into a fight. Either way, Waiters had a nice game for the team with 24 points against Miami and now he could be on his way out. Deng is an option with Derrick Rose injured and his contract coming up at the end of the season and the Knicks are in the same position as the Cavaliers, as they have lost seven in a row and have started terribly and they could use a shake up as well.
