LSU is looking to finish the season off on a high note. Coming off their most impressive game of the season after beating Texas A&M in a dominating fashion, the Tigers will not face Arkansas in their Rivalry Week matchup. The Razorbacks would simply like to close out the season by ending their eight-game losing streak that headlined the year.
The rivalry has had heat in years past, but this season the luster has worn off a bit considering the slump of Arkansas and the lack of title contention by LSU. Nevertheless, the two teams will be looking to impress at the end of the regular season and will put everything out on the field on last time.
Bret Bielema has had a tough introduction into the SEC given the Razorbacks' 3-8 record. Entering into Death Valley for a rivalry game will certainly be another tough bump in the season. Arkansas is winless this year in the conference and getting one past LSU will be a tough task. Quarterback Brandon Allen has found it difficult to gain success this season. The Arkansas offense ranks 115th in the league in passing, averaging just 145.8 yards per game. Their rushing attack is a bit better which could be where they find success.
LSU's 34-10 win over the Aggies saw the Tigers' defense making Johnny Manziel look simply mortal in his Heisman campaign. On the other side, Zach Mettenberger put up 11 for 20 in passing for 193 yards and two scores, never once looking shaken by the opposing defense.
LSU has won two straight matchups against Arkansas. Bowl experts have the team projected to head to the Outback Bowl. Mettenberger has the chance to raise his draft stock in the last two games of the season and it starts on Friday.
