Paris St Germain are planning a sensational $185 million swoop for Manchester United talisman Wayne Rooney.

According to Sport, Paris St Germain's Qatari owners are looking for a big player to emphasise their power in Europe and they have dialled in on Rooney.

PSG are reported to have looked into the the possible signing of Lionel Messi, but Barcelona rebuffed any possible move. Frustrated after missing out on the Argentinian wonder, the French club have turned their attention to Rooney.

They have set aside $185 million to account for Rooney's transfer fee and wages.

It is highly unlikely United will want to sell their best player. While the club is in debt, United are not known to sell their best players and Sir Alex Ferguson will not be happy to see his best player leave.

Rooney, however, has had a change of heart on a few occasions, particularly when he said he wanted to leave United last year after being bowled over by the astronomical wages Manchester City were offering.

Banned for two games at Euro 2012, Rooney has promised he will be ready for England's third game against hosts Ukraine. "I've had a rest and I probably needed that. Being in the squad feels good. It's a few weeks before I can play so I will aim to do some good training to be ready if needed," Rooney was quoted on the FA's website.

"It is important I do my training right. I have had a long time to think about missing the first games; it's disappointing but something that I've dealt with and I am looking forward to the first game for the rest of the lads and hoping we can get something out of that."

In other news United are locked in a battle with Roma, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid for Barcelona enforcer Seydou Keita.

The Mali international has fallen down the pecking order at the Catalan giants and at the age of 32, will be keen to play regular soccer. United have reportedly registered their interest and are ready to pounce if given the green light.
