Lindsey Vonn and Tiger Woods are in one of the most high profile relationships in all of the athletic world and after Woods made his way back to number one, many credited the presence of Vonn as a factor and now the girlfriend in the relationship will take center stage as she prepares for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and she talks to Katie Couric about it on Tuesday.
Vonn and Woods have been more open than many expected about their relationship and Vonn sat down with Couric to talk about a number of things, including about how the two handle the competiveness with each other as world class athletes. Woods is obviously one of the best golfers in the world and Vonn herself is extremely accomplished as the best female skier in US history and she will try to add to that after dealing with a serious knee injury that she has been recovering from all year.
Vonn was injured back in February when the relationship with Woods was still speculation and now she is gearing up to get back on her skis heading into the Olympics next year in Russia. Vonn is training now for the Olympics and she said one reason why the two fit together is that they have very similar personalities and she also described her boyfriend as "goofy" and that is one reason why the two have fit well together. Vonn said in a clip of the Couric interview that Woods is very funny and laid back and that she also enjoyed coming with him and watching at many tournaments this year, including some of the majors on the PGA tour, like the Masters at Augusta.
Vonn is 28 years old and Woods is already 37, but the two have been looking like a good match since announcing their relationship, as she has been seen with his children numerous times and so far it looks like the relationship has some legs. Woods has had a fantastic year on the tour and while he did not win a major for another season, he won five times to lead all players and also won the player of the year award in the process. Woods was able to take back his number one world ranking back from Rory McIlroy, who is in his own high profile relationship that many see as a distraction and one reason why he did not play very well this season.
Vonn said that she has been able to spend time with Woods while training and it is likely that he will try and see her in Sochi as long as his schedule doesn't get too filled up. Vonn made her way to a number of tournaments and the two were also seen together at various events and it remains to be seen fi the two will eventually get engaged. Woods of course had his high profile divorce and this is his biggest relationship since then.
