NBA scores had plenty of upsets and dramatic results as the season day of season openers tipped off on Tuesday night. Here are ALL the results and final scores, focusing on the upsets first.
Heat 110-114 Sixers
Apparently, home field advantage does mean something in the NBA. The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the defending champion Miami Heat in a ramatic game as they depended on rookie to get them in the win column. Yes! The 76ers are 1-0 after Michael Carter-Williams, from Syracuse, finished his night with 22 points and 12 assists to go with seven rebounds. The Sixers shot over 50 percent as a team and won the rebounding battle 40-31.
Nets 94- Cavaliers 98
The Cleveland Cavaliers proved that though they are young, they will be dangerous. The defeated the stacked Brooklyn Nets lineup, ruining Paul Pierce's and Kevin Garnett's debuts with their new team. Also, Kyrie Irving and Co. ruined Jason Kidd's coaching debut with the nets. Irving finished with 15 points, seven reboudns and nine assists in this game. They were led by Tristan Thompson who scored 18 points for the Cavaliers. Like the 76ers, the Cavs won the battle of the boards 48-37.
Magic 115- 120 T'Wolves
Kevin Love is everything for the Minnesota Timberwolves and though the Orland Magic held a three-point lead as time was winding down in regulation, Love ruined the moment by knocking down the three. Eventually, the Timberwolves locked it up in overtime. Though this win might not be a surprise, it was definitely the most dramatic game of the new season and the first game to go to overtime. Love finished with a double-double scoring 31 points with 17 rebounds.
Nuggets 88-90 Kings
All hail Jason Thompson in Sacremento as the Kings rallied late to get past the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets will be one of the favorite to finish at the top of the Western Conference Standings, but that will have to hold. With time winding down in regulation and the game tied at 88, Thompson left his only bucket for the best time, dropping the dunk, giving the Kings the lead. Demarcus Cousins finished the game with a double-double, scoring 30 points and grabbing 17 boards in the Kings' victory.
