Adrian Peterson Fantasy Football: Minnesota Vikings RB Probable For Monday Night Football Against Giants In Week 7 Matchup

Oct 21, 2013 09:58 AM EDT

The New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings will be playing on Monday night football and fantasy owners are looking at running back Adrian Peterson, as he is listed as probable for the game with a hamstring issue and while he is likely to play, owners should be cautious as he is also dealing with some personal issues.

This season Peterson is ranked in the top 10 in yards per game, yards rushing and touchdowns and he has done over 100 yards twice in his past four games and he will be essential for the Vikings to win on Monday. The Giants are coming into the game at 0-6 and with Josh Freeman starting for the Vikings on Monday night, Peterson should be getting plenty of carries on the night and if he is healthy that could mean a big game for the running back.

Peterson missed practice for personal issues and then returned on Saturday, always a good sign for the Monday game and he also has shown in the past that he has no issues with playing while banged up. This season he has nearly 500 yards rushing and five scores and over the past three games he has have over 60 carries with three touchdowns and he should get plenty of action against the Giants. Peterson is dealing with a family tragedy as a woman he knocked up allowed her son to be with her boyfriend alone and he was abused and killed and now Peterson is playing with a heavy heart after also doing it last week.

Peterson and the Vikings were dominated last week and he still had 62 yards on just 10 carries and the previous week he scored two touchdowns and had 140 yards. The Giants give up a ton of yards and Peterson could get loose on Monday night, especially if the team doesn't have Jason Pierre-Paul and a number of other defensive players. The two teams have combined for just one win this season and both are looking desperate for one.
