Andre Brown Return: NY Giants RB to Start Over Brandon Jacobs, Peyton Hillis After Leg Injury, Tom Coughlin Confirms Debut as Fantasy Value Increases

The New York Giants feared they lost Andre Brown for the year. The running back went down with a broken leg in the preseason, the first of many injuries to the position group. The Giants have been decimated at the running back position for the entire season, rotating backs each week. However, Brown is set to return to the field this week, giving the Giants plenty of options once again.

The Giants have been terrible this season and the ground game has been even worse. First the injury to Brown set them back. Then David Wilson was unable to handle the starting role at the beginning of the year. Now he is out with a neck injury and his return is unknown. Brandon Jacobs was signed after sitting on the free agent market for months. He has been successful, but certainly is not wowing anyone. Backup Da'Rel Scott came up lame in the team's Week 6 matchup. The Giants signed Peyton Hillis to help fill the void. It is exhausting the amount of changes the team has had, but with Brown getting healthy once again, stability is on its way.

According to the New York Daily News, Brown has resumed practicing with the team. He is officially able to return to the field Week 10 since the Giants have a bye week before that. It is assumed that baring any setbacks, Brown will slide right back into the No. 1 spot for the Giants. He was originally supposed to take over the starting role in the preseason until the injury occurred. With the struggles Wilson has displayed, the team will be looking for production from Brown immediately.

From a fantasy prospective, it is smart to pick up Brown now and stash him before his Week 10 debut. Brown certainly will not put up huge numbers, but he will get his opportunities. It is hard to imagine the running back putting up anything bigger than what Jacobs has done or what Hillis could potentially do. Head coach Tom Coughlin noted that while he is excited for the return of Brown, it is smart to take things slow.

"There's a legitimate window there that we would have to follow anyway," Coughlin said, via NJ.com. "But if it happens faster, then fine. But we're going to move it slow so we can have a chance to get them in the best possible position when we do turn them loose."
