DeMarco Murray Injury: Joseph Randle Waiver Wire Option, Dallas Cowboys Give Backup RB Increased Role as Jerry Jones Uncertain Veteran to Play Week 7

Demarco Murray has no idea if he will be on the field come Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. After the Dallas Cowboys running back sprained his left knee in the team's game against the Washington Redskins, his status for the coming week has been questionable. While Murray has been limited in practice this week, he is preparing like he will be in the starting lineup in Week 7.

"I am preparing like I am playing this week, the way I'm preparing mentally in the classroom, physically on the field," Murray said, via ESPNDallas.com. "I am running, doing some good things with [trainer] Britt [Brown]. We haven't said which way, what we're going to do yet. I think it all depends on how comfortable I am. We were able to do some things today and it felt good."

Dallas owner Jerry Jones notes that Murray could possibly miss Sunday's game and return when the team plays the Detroit Lions the following week. Murray told reporters that nothing has been said to him about what the team's intentions are for the running back position, but he is confident that with at least one good practice, he will be fine to play. That decision will be left to the training staff.

With the Murray injury, Joseph Randle becomes a key waiver wire pick up for Week 7. The rookie has been working with the first-team offense all week, handling his increased role with the team very well. The fifth-round pick is considered to be a raw talent with tremendous upside. With Lance Dunbar out with a hamstring injury and Murray also down, Randle will be the primary back.

Randle does not exactly jump off the page when it comes to stats. He has gotten 11 carries for 17 yards and one touchdown this season, but mostly because Murray has been the primary back for the Cowboys. In a deeper league, Randle is a great option. He has the skillset to truly breakout this week with more carries. The Eagles has an average run defense, allowing opponents to put up 105.7 yards per game. Randle could see some big numbers with that.
