**UPDATE** 10/16- 7:23 P.M. ET-- Dodgers remain alive after defeating the Cardinals 6-4 in Game 5.

Game 6 will be played on Friday.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Los Angeles Dodgers are facing elimination in Game 5 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Dodger Stadium will be jammed and behind their team as they will try to invigorate baseball's second highest payroll as the Cardinals will try to close the series out and claim the N.L. Pennant on Wednesday night.

Game Time: 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT

Channel: TBS

It's an early one in L.A. as the Dodgers and Cardinals meet in an afternoon game, following their night game on Tuesday. The Cardinals are trying to stick the nail in coffin. The Cardinals are trying to send the Dodgers overboard; have them swimimg with the fish. You get the hint. With a 3-1 lead, the Cardinals will have a chance to embarrass the Dodgers in their own stadium and make their second World Series appearance in the past three years.

Joe Kelly, the 25-year-old right-hander who set the tone in the series for the Cardinals, will take the mound on Wednesday afternoon. He matched Zack Greinke's effort in Game 1, going six innings, striking out five, while allowing two earned runs on six hits and two walks. He gets the ball again in Game 5 with a chance to send his Cardinals to the Fall Classic.

In two starts this postseason, Kelly has yet to receive a decision, but he has pitched 11.1 innings, allowing just four earned runs (3.18 ERA), recording 10 strikeouts, though he has also walked six hitters. Kelly is one of two young Cardinal pitchers that are helping the team win in the 2013 playoffs. Kelly does not provide the lights out stuff Michael Wacha featured in his two playoff starts, but Kelly gives the Cardinals a chance to win when he is on the mound.

Greinke might have to take matters into his own hands as the Dodgers' lineup is looking mighty thin on the offensive end. He has three career home runs during the regular season and in 2013, Greinke had 19 hits, posting a .328 batting average with a .409 on-base percentage. He has been held hitless in five at-bats this postseason. It's crazy that Greinke's offensive contributions are being highlighted heading into an must-win game, but the Dodgers are scuffling. Injured Andre Ethier is in their lineup while an injured Hanley Ramirez is on the shelf with rib issues that continue to complicate, affecting his contributions on both sides of the ball.

Do not miss Game 5. Look for Yasiel Puig to turn it up in today's game as he will likely not enjoy losing in his rookie season. The Cardinals look to be awake now, smacking two home runs in Tuesday's win. However, you can expect another pitchers' duel in this meeting.
