NY Giants Free Agent Rumors: New York Signs Peyton Hillis Over Michael Turner, Danny Ware For Brandon Jacobs and David Wilson Running Back Injuries

The New York Giants have been one of the worst teams in the NFL this season and one of the main reasons for that is their inability to rush the ball consistently and after dealing with some injuries to backs David Wilson and Brandon Jacobs, the team is bringing in some options, including looking at Peyton Hillis and DJ Ware as well as possibly Michael Turner.

David Wilson missed out on last week's game with a neck injury and while Jacobs rushed for over 100 yards, he was banged up as well, leaving Michael Cox as the only healthy running back on the roster and with him being a rookie, they want some veterans on the field. The team also had re-signed Da'Rel Scott, but he was injured in the game against the Bears and now he too could be out for an extended period of time.

According to Pro Football Talk, the team is planning on looking at Peyton Hillis and DJ Ware as free agent options and there is a chance that he also could be looked at as another option. The Giants have been one of the most inconsistent rushing teams in football and now they will try and stave that off until Andre Brown can come off the injured list for the team, as he broke his leg in the preseason, which started this whole awful stretch for the franchise.

Jacobs is currently leading the team in rushing after going over 100 yards this week, as he now has 154 yards on 44 attempts with three touchdowns, putting him over Wilson, who has just 146 yards on the same amount of touches. The team now will look at Ware, who was previously with the team, as well as Hillis, who previously was a stud with the Browns before flaming out with the Chiefs last year, rushing for just over 300 yards last season in limited action.

Hillis could be a lightning in a bottle type option, while Ware rushed for only 51 yards last season with the Buccaneers and Hillis had some solid stats a couple years ago, including 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns with the Browns in 2010. Wilson has seen doctors and it appears he will not need surgery for his neck issue and should be out for three to four more weeks according to ESPN.com.

Wilson missing time along with Jacobs could be a big issue and the team is now 0-6 and is preparing for the Vikings on Monday night football. The team has two games over the next 30 days since they have a bye after the Eagles and they need these two games to have any chance at a solid season.
