Oct 14, 2013 08:34 PM EDT

The San Diego Chargers and the Indianapolis Colts is the last game left to be played on the schedule for Monday Night Football on ESPN at 8:30 pm and it will be the first MNF matchup for Andrew Luck under the bright lights and he will be matched up against an improved Philip Rivers and the Chargers under new head coach Mike McCoy this season.

The Chargers are coming into the game after losing to the Oakland Raiders on the road last Sunday night and the Indianapolis Colts are coming into the game after defeating the Seattle Seahawks in a battle of quarterbacks drafted last year. The Colts have won three straight games since losing to the Miami Dolphins in Week 2 and two of those victories were against the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks, two teams that were in the playoffs last year. The team has an emotional game next against the Denver Broncos and that marks the return of Peyton Manning to Indy for the first time and that game will lead into the bye for the Colts in Week 8.

The game against the Seahawks put together a matchup of two of the best young quarterbacks in the league in Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck and now Luck will go up against a veteran in Rivers. Luck is directing an offense that ranks fourth in the league in rushing yards per game this season behind Trent Richardson and the team is ranked 23rd in passing yards this season with just over 220 yards per game. The defense is giving up too may yards up front to the rushing attack and the secondary has been playing very well while ranking in the top five in passing yards allowed per game.

Luck has tossed just two picks this season with seven touchdowns and while he has passed for over 300 yards just once this season, the team is 4-1 and looking for their fifth win on Monday night. Luck is completing over 62 percent of his passes and he has thrown four touchdowns and just one pick over the last two games. Luck went for under 200 against the 49ers, but it was more than enough to dominate and the team also saw him pass for over 200 yards against both the Seahawks and the Jaguars. Reggie Wayne has been a reliable veteran for the team since Luck arrived and this season he has caught nearly 30 balls for 365 yards and two touchdowns.

The Colts have some interesting scheduling coming up, as they are playing three straight night games including the San Diego Chargers and then they will play against the Denver Broncos next Sunday night in the return of Peyton Manning to the city where he won a championship and after their bye week, the Colts will visit the Houston Texans in their second straight Sunday night matchup. The Chargers also have a bye coming up after next week and that starts a stretch of four straight road games for the team, including against the Jaguars and the Redskins in their next two games. The team then plays against the Denver Broncos before playing against the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs before playing the Bengals and the Giants at home before finishing against the Broncos, Raiders and Chiefs to end the season.

The game on Monday night will have the San Diego Chargers hosting the Indianapolis Colts on ESPN starting at 8:30 pm and the game will be broadcast on the Watch ESPN website.
