Tim Tebow & Legal Team Do Not Approve of New "My Jesus" Shirt

This logo, containing the words "My Jesus," is being used to sell T-Shirts. Tim Tebow's legal team feels that the company producing the shirts, CubbyTees.com, is wrongfully using the QB's name without his permission."

Tim Tebow's camp apparently does not appreciate the exciting world of novelty t-shirts.  According to TMZ.com  the former "Mile High Messiah's" legal team sent a cease and desist letter to Cubbytees.com.

The website, which sells T-shirts that flirt with the boundaries of copyright infringement while poking fun at current sports scandals and athletes, designed a shirt that bears what appears to be a New York Jets logo at first glance.  The logo can be seen above.

Upon further investigation, it becomes apparent that the image is actually a unique design.  Where the outlined "NY" would be placed on the football franchise's logo is the word "My" and where it should read "Jets" it reads "Jesus."

Cubbytees have ignored the warning that was issued by Tebow's legal team and claim that the shirts are their own original creation.

The company described their product as "positive and innocuous" via a press release and also stressed that since neither Tebow's name/image nor the Jets name/image are actually depicted, they are within their legal rights to distribute the shirts.

"We are artists and have no desire to trespass on anyone's legitimate intellectual property rights," stated CubbyTees.com "but we also will not roll over and sacrifice ours."

Tebow is currently the second string QB on the New York Jets roster, though speculation persists that he has a legitimate chance of earning a starting role before the 2012 season is over.
