The Detroit Tigers and Oakland A's will have to settle things today. There is no such thing as tomorrow between these two teams. It's win or go home. So the pressure is clearly on. The Tigers stayed alive in Game 5, while the A's will look for crowd support to get this game and advance to the 2013 ALCS. What will be airing on television that will provide the same entertainment as this ALDS Game 5? Picture all the Latino kids fighting with their mothers and sisters for the remote control as they try to watch the telenovelas. All the football buffs will have to battle with bartenders in order to watch their Thursday Night Football game. Nobody in Chicago will probably watch the ALDS, but New Yorkers might get tired of watching their Giants losing and might just have to turn away and look for comforting in the ALDS.
The A's and Tigers meet in the second Game 5 of the 2013 League Division Series. The St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates needed Game 5 to settle their score and now the Tigers and A's will hook up in another classic meeting. In 2012, they needed five and now once again, becoming one of the newest rivalries in baseball, the A's and Tigers play in a must win situation.
The A's had a chance to win in Game 4, but their pitching lost the lead twice. Things got out of hand in the bottom of the eighth when the Tigers put the game out of reach, scoring three in their half of the inning, taking a 8-4 lead. Yoenis Cespedes made things interesting, as all the games have been great so far in this series, driving in two runs in the top of the ninth, keeping the A's hopes alive.
Today's matchup features Justin Verlander and Sonny Gray, who both hooked up for one of the most memorable pitchers duels in the playoffs. It became even more memorable because nobody knew who Gray was until last Saturday. If you still do not know who and why Gray is such a relevant part of this series' story, then just jump out the window.
