Kenny Britt Trade Rumors: Kendall Wright, Nate Washington Overshadow WR, Tennessee Titans Re-Evaluate Receiver Position After Veteran Struggles in Week 5 Loss

Kenny Britt's future with the Tennessee Titans continues to become more and more doubtful with each passing week. Since the start of the season, Britt has faced a benching, coaching criticism and terrible stats. This has increased trade rumors around him and has clearly placed him on the endangered list as far as Tennessee players. With the trade deadline quickly approaching, Tennessee coaches have told media they are "reassessing" Britt's role with the team, something no player wants to hear.

Britt caught one pass off his six targets as the Titans fells to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Would that have changed with Jake Locker at quarterback instead of Ryan Fitzpatrick? His season stats tell fans no and the coaching staff realizes that. Offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains told media he is going to re-evaluate Britt's role in the offense.

"We're gonna have to reassess everything at this point. We'll evaluate after we watch the tape," Loggains said, via TitanInsider.com. "Obviously, I'm not gonna hide anything. He had probably three drops in the game. The one that bothered me most was when it was 17-13, and you've got third and 2, and you've got to make that play. We dropped the ball, and it puts you in a tough spot. We were moving the football. We had kind of flipped the field again, and that hurt us."

Britt was once considered the Titans' top wide receiver heading into the season. However, so far in 2013 he has just 52 yards of six catches and 22 targets. Britt has been dealing with some lingering injuries, but in the end a dropped ball is a dropped ball and coaches are noticing.

Britt has moved down as the team's third wide receiver on the roster. Kendall Wright is developing into a star, as is rookie Justin Hunter. Nate Washington is also proving to be a reliable No. 2 guy for the team, making Britt unnecessary to the team. In his second year with the team, Wright now has 266 yards on 26 catches, putting him at the top of the depth chart. Titans coaches have said they want Hunter's role to increase, leaving Britt on thin ice.

Tennessee has been fielding offers for Britt, but has not found anything favorable. His injury history and low numbers are not working in his favor as interest remains relatively low. All signs point to Britt off the team come next season, but if the Titans have it their way, someone will pick up the receiver by Week 8.
