The Cardinals are explosive, but anything they do, the Pirates could match on both sides of the ball. The Cardinals scored nine runs in Game 1. Completely taking advantage of the Pirates' mistakes. Then in Game 2, it was the Pirates who controlled the scoreboard as their rookie pitcher controlled the Cardinals' bats. The Pirates' offense came alive and scored seven runs, tying the series at one game a piece.

The changes do no come in personnel, but rather in placement. Molina has been hitting very well and will get bumped up in the batting order, hitting clean-up. Adams had his days of success during the regular season. Now, with no Allen Craig, the Adams has to play first base, but he has not provided clean-up stuff on offense.

Manager Clint Hurdle is sticking to his guns. Though Alvarez has clearly been the most productive hitter behind McCutchen, he somehow rather keep Alvarez in the sixth hole. Walker has yet to get a hit in the 2013 postseason, but Hurdle won't place Morneau, who is hitting .375 in the playoffs in the second spot in the lineup. Well, whatever works.
The series is tied at one. Winner of Game 3 takes a 2-1 series lead.
