MLB Playoff Standings: Records Entering Sunday After First Week of Postseason Concludes

The MLB Playoff Standings are getting interesting game after game. Saturday night featured two ALDS games that were exciting, more importantly, they impacted the playoff picture in great ways. Check out the MLB Playoff Standings with all records in all four series of the 2013 MLB Postseason.

Athletics Win in Walk-Off
What a game it was. Justin Verlander, the Tigers ace in previous years, and relatively nobody, Sonny Gray, locked up in a huge pitchers' duel that provided another dramatic game in Oakland. These two starters combined for 15 amazing innings of scoreless baseball, allowing just eight hits, three walks and struck out 20. It was a bad day to be a hitter as both pitchers dominated for as long as they were on the mound.

Things went wrong for Detroit in the bottom of the ninth inning. Al Alburquerque could not stay out of trouble after recording two big outs in the eighth inning as the A's threatened. Oakland loaded up the bases, and Rick Porcello took over. However, Stephen Vogt, the A's catchers, provided the thunder, driving in Yoenis Cespedes with a base hit to win the game and tie the series.

Rays Feel Blue, Papi Makes Deposits
Behind two home runs from David "Big Papi" Ortiz, the Boston Red Sox cruised to victory, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 2 of the ALDS. Ortiz's first home run gave the Red Sox a two-run lead in the first inning. The last home run, in the bottom of the eighth, gave the Red Sox breathing room as they were able to close out the game behind Koji Uehara, who picked up his first save of the postseason.

John Lackey gave the Red Sox enough, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits. He did not have his best stuff, walking three hitters, while striking out six.

The Red Sox can now lock up the series in Tampa Bay on Monday.

N.L. Division Series
Both the series in the National League were in hiatus as it was a travel day.

The Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers meet in Dodger Stadium on Sunday night. Meanwhile the Pittsburgh Pirates will try to take full advantage of their home crowd after stripping home field advantage from the St. Louis Cardinals as Game 3 will be played in PNC Park.

Here are the MLB Playoff Standings with series records:
Red Sox 2
Rays 0

Athletics 1
Tigers 1

Braves 1
Dodgers 1

Cardinals 1
Pirates 1
