Santonio Holmes Fantasy Football: Stephen Hill and NY Jets Wide Receiver Out With Injuries As Team To Sign Free Agent David Nelson

The New York Jets are coming off of a tough loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and to make matter worse, the team is likely to be without its best wide receiver for a period of time, as Santonio Holmes will be out with a hamstring injury.

According to Pro Football Talk, the New York Post is reporting that the injury could keep Holmes out for a few weeks and with the team also dealing with a concussion to Stephen Hill, they likely will sign free agent David Nelson, Both Holmes and Hill have been solid for the Jets are by far their two best playmakers, but now they could be out of the lineup for a couple of weeks and that means Nelson could get his shot.

Nelson was originally cut by the Browns after the preseason and now he is trying to come back with another club and this comes after he missed most of last season with an ACL injury. Nelson had a solid season back in 2011 with over 60 catches and the Jets need all the help they can get on offense after the bad loss to the Titans. Holmes has just 10 catches this season in four games on 24 targets for the Jets, but he at least has been on the field, which wasn't the case last season.

Now Holmes could be out for an extended period of time and it comes after he made one catch for 25 yards on five targets against the Titans. Holmes appeared to be "back" in Week 3 against the Buffalo Bills after making five catches for over 150 yards and a touchdown and that came after he made four catches over the first two games. Last season Holmes was injured during the year and was lost for the rest of the season and when the injury happened, he selfishly threw the ball away and turned it over on a fumble that was recovered by the San Francisco 49ers for a touchdown.

The Jets were a surprising 2-1 this season before the bad loss to the Titans and now they have a stretch that could be deadly for their season, as they are playing on the road against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night Football next before playing at home against the Steelers and then again at home against the New England Patriots.
