NY Knicks Rumors: Metta World Peace Predicts LA Lakers NBA Finals Appearance, Paul Pierce, JR Smith Feud Not Concern as Forward Enjoys New York

Metta World Peace thinks the Los Angeles Lakers are destined for greatness. Hold on, Metta World Peace is not on the Lakers, why is he not saying that about the New York Knicks? Despite no longer being a member of the purple and gold, the forward is still making predictions about what he believes the Lakers are capable of in the upcoming season.

Not too many NBA analysts are giving the Lakers a chance in 2013. After losing Dwight Howard, MWP and Kobe Bryant for at least a little bit due to injury, most have them finishing near the bottom of the Western Conference  and missing out of the playoffs. MWP, however, does not see it that way. He thinks Los Angeles could make it to the NBA Finals at least.

"I think the Lakers are going to go to the NBA Finals," MWP said, via ESPN New York. "I think Kobe [Bryant's] gonna be healthy, they're gonna get Pau [Gasol]. The Lakers are gonna make a big trade like they always do. They're gonna get another good player, boom, boom, and they're gonna go to the Finals. I believe it. Kobe's gonna come back, he's gonna play team ball, and Pau's gonna play well."

After being amnestied by the Lakers, MWP signed with the New York Knicks as one of their bigger offseason acquisitions. While many members of the Knicks are participating in a war of words with the Brooklyn Nets, MWP is not getting in the middle of the drama.

"I just want apple pie. I don't feel like talking," MWP said. "I want to go to Whole Foods, enjoy my Whole Foods and play with my teammates. I don't have the energy to go back and forth with words because there's just too many great things happening in New York City for me to be going back and forth."

He is opting to not comment on the fact that JR Smith said the Knicks would win the NBA championship this year, while Paul Pierce is saying it is time for the Nets to truly start running New York. Things have only escalated from there.

MWP told ESPN he really has no idea who idea who is on Brooklyn this season so he cannot comment on which team is better. He is confident that Carmelo Anthony is one of the best players in the league and can help the Knicks beat the Miami Heat this season.
