The fight on Saturday night between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Canelo Alvarez was the most anticipated boxing match in years and after the scores were read there was a bit of controversy, as one judge decided that the match was a draw and now that judge is stepping down.

According to ESPN.com, after the fight two of three judges ruled the match in favor of Mayweather and it would have been a unanimous decision had one judge, CJ Ross, ruled in Mayweather's favor. After the fight social media exploded with talk about the Ross decision and many felt that Mayweather was the clear winner in the fight. The report says that Las Vegas TV station 8 News NOW is reporting that Ross will be stepping down "indefinitely" after the decision.

Many were upset that Mayweather did not get the unanimous decision, as people in the media and fans on Twitter said that he was the clear winner of the fight after dominating most of the match. According to the report, this is not the first time that Ross has been in the middle of a controversy, as she also ruled in the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley and in that match she was also hit with some drama, as she ruled in favor of Bradley, joining with one of the other judges despite the consensus of many that Pacquiao won.

The results by Ross in the two fights are eerily similar and now she will be stepping down for a period of time before making a decision on her future. ESPN.com reports that she has been a judge since the 1980s and the report says that Nevada Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer said that the reason she stepped down was to take herself out of the story, since the boxing match main topic should be about Mayweather and not one of the judges.

The ESPN report also has an email that was sent to the group, which said that she will be taking some time off from boxing. Mayweather had his own controversy after the match, as someone on his team put out a tweet that made fun of Oscar De La Hoya for missing the match for having to go into rehab for substance abuse. De La Hoya helped promote the fight through his company and afterwards Mayweather apologized and said the Tweet was unauthorized.
