The MLB Standings are thrilling. Football might have grabbed people's attention, but races around the league are brewing in the final weeks of the MLB season. The N.L. Central is getting out of hand, while the Los Angeles Dodgers are nailing the N.L. West down. The New York Yankees continue to prove that Yankee Magic is real as they are still alive despite all of their injuries.

N.L. Central: Pirates, Cardinals (85-61)
Low and behold. The Pirates struggled in the first week of September, but after a series against the Texas Rangers, their bats and pitching stepped up. Their hitting was timely and their pitching was unhittable. The Cardinals haven't played poorly, but the Pirates are on a four-game winning streak and currently the division's hottest team. The Cincinnati Reds are still there, waiting for one of the two teams to slip. The Reds are in third place, 2.5 games behind both the Cards and Pirates.

N.L. West: L.A. Dodgers (86-60)
The Dodgers continue to win while simultaneously trimming their magic number. It is currently sitting at five after their victory over the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers could wrap the division up as they face the lowly Giants three times this weekend and the D'Backs will play the Colorado Rockies.

A.L. East: New York Yankees, 3rd Place, (79-68)
Okay, so they are not in first place, in fact, the Yankees are far from first place. The Yankees will head to Boston trailing the Red Sox by 9.5 games in the division. However, the Yankees are currently the division's best team, winning three games in a row against the Baltimore Orioles. It's been a good series in Camden Yards, but the home team has not responded. The Yankees' changes of claiming the division are slim, but they are just one game back in the Wild Card race.

The Atlanta Braves continue to dominate. Though the Red Sox have the most wins in baseball, the Braves have the highest winning percentage in the game as their record is 88-58. They are 11 games up on the Washington Nationals.

The Detroit Tigers are six games up on the Cleveland Indians and seven on the surprising Kansas City Royals, who are bringing exciting baseball to their playoff-starved city.

The Oakalnd A's continue to stiff arm the Texas Rangers, building a 3.5-game lead in the A.L. West. The Rangers still have a chance of claiming the division and making the playoffs as they lead the A.L. Wild Card by two games.
