Mesut Ozil has no doubts Arsenal have the squad ad talent capable of winning the English Premier League title and is looking forward to the fresh new challenge after completing his first training session as a Gunner.
The German international's signing from Real Madrid was seen as the most exciting of this summer's transfer window from a Premier League incoming perspective and plenty is expected from Ozil in the coming years as an Arsenal player.
Speaking to reporters during his unveiling as an Arsenal player, Ozil was asked the inevitable question - do you think Arsenal can win the title?
"Of course, definitely," Ozil said. "I know the team and the talent we have here. Every player wants to be successful and Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"We definitely want to achieve something with this team -- that is what we work for. Of course it will be very difficult because the league is the strongest in the world. But we will give everything to achieve success.
"We want to play attractive football to improve but of course also successful football. I can't promise to win trophies but I can promise as a team we can give our all to in trophies."
Ozil has German international teammates in Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker to help him settle in at Arsenal, and the 24-year-old is excited to get started on this new journey.
"It has been very interesting," Ozil added. "I could not think a lot about Arsenal (at first), because I had to focus on the German national team, but of course I talked to Mertesacker and Podolski about Arsenal, I asked them how the club is and how the people are here.
"Of course I am curious. This is something very new for me. I have only heard positive things and know myself how this club is.
"It is a very familiar (well-known) club, a very successful club with very young players, and the young players develop very well here. This was one of the reasons why I chose to come here, I want to continue to improve myself.
"I am really happy to be here under such a great manager."
