Sep 10, 2013 12:53 PM EDT

Atlanta Braves catcher Evan Gattis is having a very solid season as a first-year player in the major leagues and while he may not win rookie over the year over someone like Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, he did accomplish one great feat: hitting the longest recorded home run of the season (so far).

According to ESPN.com, Gattis hit the longest home run of the season as of September 9, measured at just over 486 feet. Gattis hit the homer on Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies with Cole Hamels on the mound and according to SI.com, it was the longest home run in the history of Citizens Bank Park as well.

Gattis is hitting .245 this season with 18 home runs, 52 RBIs and 37 runs to go along with 20 walks and 16 doubles in his rookie season.
