San Francisco 49ers: Randy Moss Criticizes Colin Kaepernick, Vernon Davis Chemistry, Jim Harbaugh Not Concerned as Tight End Works as Wide Receiver

Randy Moss has never been one to hold back his opinions and now that he is officially an analyst on Fox Sports, he has the platform for everyone to hear him. The former San Francisco 49er has a few opinions about his team as they enter into the 2013 season. While admitting that the team should be fine despite the depleted wide receiving corps, he is critical of the chemistry between Colin Kaepernick and Vernon Davis.

"From my time there last year, it didn't seem Kaepernick and Vernon Davis had a rapport. They haven't shown that yet," Moss said, via San Mercury News.

Moss is not necessarily wrong. Last season, Kaepernick and Davis only connected six times during the regular season, but in the playoffs they put up 12 catches for 254 yards and a touchdown. That late season surge is what the 49ers will rely on this season. Davis is expected to play a much larger role, especially as a wide receiver and chemistry is crucial.

David caught wind of Moss's comments and could not disagree with them more. The tight end notes that he has made great strides with Kaepernick in the offseason and the two are on the same page.

"I feel me and Colin are on a different level than where we were last year," Davis said. "I don't think you can base everything on what happened last year, because a lot can change in six months. Colin is a different man. Some of the things I learned this training camp, I didn't learn last training camp."

Davis notes that he spent most of the offseason learning routes and developing more as a true wide receiver. The team will need him considering the loss of wideouts like Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham for at least the first six games. Plus there is no more Randy Moss running deep down the field. Head coach Jim Harbaugh stressed the team was not concerned over replacing Moss.

"I don't think any of our receivers are attempting to fill shoes or be exactly like Randy Moss," Harbaugh said. "Randy did a great job here and we never compare players or talk about filling shoes. They're their own players and we're excited to watch them play. I think they're going to do a great job."

Moss was simply a part-time starter for the team. He put up just three touchdowns last season, finishing up with 434 yards on 28 catches. San Francisco will start their season off with the Green Bay Packers. Marlon Moore and Quinton Patton are penciled in as Moss' replacements.
