NFL Roster Cut Deadline Live 53-Man Player Updates

Aug 30, 2013 12:29 PM EDT

The NFL preseason is now officially over after all 16 teams played in Week 4 and now the next important deadline for all 32 clubs in the league is Saturday, as every roster must be cut down from 75 to 53 players and that comes after the deadline on Tuesday to get down from 90.

A number of notable players have already been released this week, including Donte Stallworth, Braylon Edwards and Joe McKnight and players like Tim Tebow could also be on the chopping block by Saturday. On Friday teams already started to make cuts, including the Buffalo Bills, who let go of Matt Leinart after signing him during the preseason to help out with EJ Manuel's injury, but now he is done after being with the team for five days and there is chance that he could come back with another team if they need depth at the position.

The Bears also have started making cuts, including safety Brandon Hardin as well as bigger names like quarterback Jordan Palmer and tackle J'Marcus Webb, who had made coach Marc Trestman frustrated with his play this preseason. The Bears are heading into the 2013 season with high expectations for the team and Jay Cutler and Pro Football Talk reports that the team is also cutting wide receiver Josh Lenz and safety Tom Nelson.

The New York Giants may have some issues as they make cuts, as Andre Brown will be out for four to six weeks with a broken leg and they need to figure out what they want to do with him and also if they should sign someone else. The team has David Wilson and Brown was expected to be the primary starter and now he will miss a large chunk of the season with a broken leg and that is tough for Eli Manning and the Giants, as they were working on making the running game more productive this time around.
