The New York Metshad a rough day after finding out that star Matt Harvey may miss the entire 2014 season and now the team traded one of their top players this year in Marlon Byrd, on of course, Marlon Byrd t-shirt night.

According to Deadspin.com, the team traded Byrd to the Pittsburgh Pirates along with John Buck and the deal happened just before the Mets were going to play on Tuesday night in a game that would see fans get some Byrd shirts. Fans bought tickets to the game that allowed them to get a free shirt and now the player that the shirt will star will no longer be on the team as he was dealt to the Pirates.

The team acquired Byrd after looking for more power in the lineup and he has been batting well all season hitting .285 with a career-high 21 home runs and 71 RBIs and he also has been on a tear since the All-Star break, hitting .311 with 11 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 20 RBIs in his last 38 games, according to ESPN.com. Byrd goes along with John Buck, as the team already brought up rookie Travis d'Arnaud
