The summer has been filled with report after report about star Gareth Bale moving from Tottenham to Real Madrid in a record deal and after plenty of rumors that the move was imminent, it appears it is going down...maybe.

According to The Guardian, reports have come out that Bale is ready to be sold by the Spurs to Real Madrid for a record €100m - £86.3 million to finally get the deal through. Bale's possible reason for wanting to leave the Spurs has to do with the fact that he wants to play Champions League football and that comes after the Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League last season. Bale has been linked to the team for quite some time and the report says that when he was younger in his career he said he dreamed of playing for the club.

Bale has developed into one of the best players in the world while playing for the Spurs and he won numbers awards last season and also had 26 goals and is still very young at 26. Bale was the league and Football Writers' Association player of the year last season and his new deal would be a record after the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo for 80 back in 2009 from Manchester United. André Villas-Boas said that Bale would be back in training this week, but now there is a good chance he will not play and he could be on his way overseas.

Real Madrid has had offers turned down from Tottenham for Bale and the club said that things were still developing with regards to a deal. Villas-Boas did not deny reports about a bid, although he did not confirm any specific numbers. The Spurs are preparing for the worst with a deal for Valencia striker Roberto Soldado and they also added midfielder Paulinho and winger Nacer Chadli.

The Spurs have been steadfast that they won't give up Bale for anything short of £100 million or at least in that wheelhouse and it is a stunning turn of events after Bale came from Southampton in 2007. This all could have been avoided if the team made the Champions League, but now clearly it appears that Bale is going to move at some point. Bale joins names like Luis Suarez as the biggest rumored moves of the transfer season and there is a chance that this deal could go through this week.
