Houston Rockets Rumors: Dwight Howard Says He's Fine With Playing Power Forward For The Benefit Of Omer Asik

Dwight Howard's arrival to Houston caused a lot of friction between center Omer Asik and the Rockets organization, even leading to Asik requesting a trade. The young center's concern was simple, he was worried about the amount of playing time he'd see now that the Rockets have a superstar center in Howard.

Well it seems that the Rockets have come up with a valuable solution that could keep both big men satisfied for the time being, and that solution is for Howard to play power forward for spurts at a time.

This will allow Asik to continue to develop at the center position and it will allow Howard to maintain his ample playing minutes. Not to mention it will give the Rockets a dominant defensive presence in the paint with two crashing the boards and blocking shots.

The only way this idea couldn't work was if one of the two to have any disagreements to the plan, and according to Howard, he's all for the idea.

"There is no need to adjust. I have been playing basketball for my whole life. I started it up playing a point guard," the NBA star told reporters at a press conference to welcome his third visit to Taiwan.

"I think it can make our team tougher. We need [me] being as a power forward some games and Asik being a center. We will have a big lineup, and it will be tough for teams to truly score," the 27-year-old center said.

"You have two guys to play great defense in the paint. So I think it is positive, and it is no conflict," he added.

The addition of Howard certainly made the Rockets contenders out west, but with Howard showing so much willingness to play next to Asik, the Rockets lineup is certainly an intimidating one for players who look to score close to the basket.

Only time will tell if it will all pan out well.
