The Los Angeles Dodgers have been playing some of the best baseball of anyone this season and after going on an amazing tear, the team looks primed and ready for the playoffs after getting off to a dreadful start in the NL West.

The Dodgers were looking awful to start the season and couldn't get any type of consistency going, but after an amazing summer and some strong play from Yasiel Puig and Hanley Ramirez, the team appears to be back on track for the long haul and could be one of the teams to beat in the National League with the Braves and the Pirates as well as the Cardinals. The Dodgers pitching has been excellent throughout the summer and they will face off against the Mets team on Tuesday that has gone just 54-62 this season.

The team will have Matt Harvey on the mound against Hyun-Jin Ryu, who is 11-3 with a sub-3.00 ERA this season, while Harvey is 9-3 with 178 strikeouts and a 2.09 ERA this year. The Mets are planning to put Harvey on an innings limit to keep him fresh and he has put up some fantastic numbers this season while pitching a full year for the first time. This season the Mets are currently third in the NL East, but they are nowhere close to a playoff spot again and a pitcher like Harvey is what the fans live for.

The Dodgers currently have a 7.5 game lead in the division over the Diamondbacks and the team can basically pick up the division title barring some bad collapse over the next month. The team has been fantastic over the past 40 games and overall they are ranked 15th in the league in runs and fourth in batting average and they have done most of this without Matt Kemp, as he has been injured for most of the year. The team is ranked fourth in on base percentage and 16th in slugging percentage and is being pushed by the play of Puig and the pitching.

The Mets have struggled mightily all season and now they will get the chance to head out West against the Dodgers. Harvey has been by far their best player and the team ranks 18th in runs scored, 28th in batting average, 22nd in on base percentage and 27th in slugging percentage on the season.
