Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: Shaquille O'Neal Claims Himself And George Mikan To Being Franchises Greatest Centers, What About Kareem And Wilt?

Aug 13, 2013 09:40 AM EDT

Former Los Angeles Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal made a bold claim over the weekend about who the sits at the top of the franchises historic centers list.

Shaq's most recent blast was directed toward Lakers legends Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, where he claimed that George Mikan and himself were the franchises best centers of all-time.

The four-time NBA champion had a great relationship with the late George Mikan and actually paid for his funeral service back in 2005, but Kareem and Wilt rubbed the former face of the Lakers franchise the wrong way, and that was made abundantly clear by his comments recently.

Apparently Shaq wasn't too fond of Kareem or Wilt due to their lack of communication with the former Laker center during his years in Los Angeles. Shaq claims neither of the two legendary centers said two things to him during his stint with the Lakers, and the future Hall of Famer used it as motivation.

It would appear that the motivational tactic seems to have worked with Shaq arguably becoming one of the greatest centers to ever play the game and one of the greatest centers in franchise history after winning three championships with the Lakers.

It's kind of humorous that Shaq seemed so against to how Kareem and Chamberlain treated him while on the Lakers, especially when you think about his comments against former Laker center Dwight Howard.

Shaq has always been highly critical of Howard, even before his short time with the Lakers, so to hear him so hurt about how Kareem and Chamberlain treated him is something laughable if you ask me.
