Real Madrid's interest in Gareth Bale appear to be on the verge of being nonexistent after head coach Carlo Ancelotti said the Tottenham player was not his plans for this season.
Ancelotti made those comments to club president Florentino Pérez at the end of the club's US tour, follow Cristiano Ronaldo's refusal to publicly endorse the signing last week.
Pérez has insisted on several different occasions that the Spanish giants are prepared to make a world record bid for Bale, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levey is holding out on a £105million bid and has not considered anything higher than £85m they are understood to have offered.
Perez has insisted that the offer they've placed on the table is more than enough.
He said: "If I do not talk about names, I do not talk about money.
"[But] 100 (euros) million seems a lot to me, a lot for everything."
Numerous supporters have questioned paying anything more €70million (£60million) for Bale; players have questioned the need for another expensive acquisition; and now Ancelotti has said his piece.
Now with Real seemingly stepping aside in the Bale sweepstakes, Manchester United may be prompted to formalize their own interest in Bale, following their failure to grab Ronaldo from the Bernabéu.
According to The Telegraph, United manager David Moyes admires Bale, but the club remain wary of making a formal offer because of concerns over Tottenham's willingness to sell to them and the lack of encouragement from the Welshman's camp that he would consider a move to Old Trafford.
