Oakland Raiders Rumors: Darren McFadden Confident Matt Flynn Starts Over Tyler Wilson, QB Credits Aaron Rodgers for Thick Skin After Time in Green Bay

Darren McFadden is just saying what everyone is starting to see, Matt Flynn is the man in Oakland. The Raiders acquired the quarterback in the offseason to hopefully become the new face of the franchise. As training camp continues on, Flynn is looking more and more like the quarterback of the future for Oakland and the players are recognizing it.

"Matt is a very smart guy," McFadden said on NBCSN's Pro Football Talk.  "He gets us in the right position, when it comes to making plays he goes through great reads.  You know something, he don't turn the ball over much there, also.  It's going to be something that's going to help.  We got a quarterback who stands there and is not going to turn the ball over.  That's something that Matt has been doing in this camp so I'm looking forward to getting out there with him and just putting everything together on Sundays."

Flynn has had a difficult career in the NFL up until this point. He was a backup for years to Aaron Rodgers before heading over to the Seattle Seahawks to become the new starting quarterback. The lasted for just a brief amount of time before Russell Wilson was put in and the team sent Flynn to the bench. Now in Oakland, Flynn is competing once again with a rookie after Tyler Wilson was drafted this year.

Reports from Oakland training camp are that Flynn is looking more and more like a true starting quarterback. Having been competing for his spot for years, Flynn credits former teammate Rodgers for helping him develop a thick skin throughout the years. Watching what Rodgers went through with Brett Favre set a real example for Flynn.

"What Aaron went through was a circus," Flynn said via the Contra Costa Times. "There were all the questions from the media, people heckling him in the crowd. I don't think anybody else could have handled it any better than he did. I spent eight or nine hours a day with him, and you'd never have known what he was going through. There was never any sign of frustration."

Flynn is taking the opportunity to establish himself as the No. 1 guy in Oakland, much like Rodgers did the same in Green Bay. The quarterback is looking to end the Raiders streak of 10 consecutive non-winning seasons. Flynn's thick skin will be essential to that effort.
