It will be Adam Wainwright versus Zack Greinke in Monday's meeting. After a rough start to his career as a Dodger, Greinke has settled down in the recent months. At one point, Greinke won five consecutive decision, spanning almost a complete month. In his last start against the New York Yankees, Greinke took the no-decision after going seven innings allowing two runs on five hits, while striking out seven.
Wainwright, is one of four players in baseball tied with 13 wins, ranking him fifth in MLB. He was hit hard in his last start against the first place Pittsburgh Pirates. He surrendered four earned runs on eight hits through seven innings. Wainwright has been the team's ace this season and now they will turn to him as they seek to continue winning after going through a rough week of baseball.
The Cardinals are currently 1.5 games behind in the N.L. Central. The Pirates are winning, while St. Louis is trying to regain its form. They are withought Yadier Molina, so the next week of baseball will be pivotal. The Cardinals are still leading the N.L. Wild Card race.
As for the Dodgers, they are winners of four games and 8-2 in their last 10 games. The more the Dodgers play, the better they get. Unfortunately, for the former first place Arizona Diamondbacks, the Dodgers are now 5.5 games up in the N.L. West. The Dodgers will look to continue streaking as they hit the road, where they are 30-24.
