Tigers and Rangers MLB Rumors: Will Nelson Cruz and Jhonny Peralta Play If Detroit and Texas Make Playoffs? Stars Eligible To Return After 50-Game Ban

The Biogenesis suspensions were handed down on Monday officially by Major League Baseball and with nearly all the players taking the suspensions without an appeal, that means that two players in particular in Nelson Cruz and Jhonny Peralta will likely be eligible to come back if their teams make it to the postseason.

According to Hardball Talk, based on when the suspensions are official, both players will be able to serve their suspensions and then if their teams make the playoffs, they will be eligible to return, although it remains to be seen if their team will have them back right away. Melky Cabrera went through a similar situation last year with the Giants and the team went on to win the World Series without him.

The Rangers and Tigers need their star players and while Detroit made up for his loss by trading for Jose Iglesias at the deadline, the Rangers will have some big holes to fill without Cruz, who was leading the team in home runs and RBIs. The teams obviously will have time to figure out what to do and this all comes after Cruz said he went to the clinic after dealing with an illness. Alex Rodriguez was suspended the most amount of games for the players with 211 and he is expected to play as he appeals.
