The Houston Rockets appear to be onboard to signing another free-agent center after agreeing to a one-year deal with Marcus Camby.

With Camby on the roster, the Rockets currently have three centers, along with Dwight Howard and Omer Asik. Camby became a free agent earlier this month after his former team the Toronto Raptors bought out his contract.

The Raptors recently bought out Camby from the final two years of his contract after acquiring him in the Andrea Bargnani trade from the New York Knicks.

The 39-year-old center's deal with the Rockets will be for the veteran minimum $1.4 million. He had been owed $7.5 million over the final two years of his previous deal.

Last season he appeared in just 24 games for the Knicks, where he averaged career-lows with 1.8 points per game.

Camby can't give much at this point but provides the vaunted veteran leadership that teams would look to have on their roster. He also theoretically provides insurance against a trade of Asik as well.

Camby was picked second overall by Toronto in the 1996 draft and has played 973 games during his career. He played in 19 games for the Rockets in 2011-12. The Los Angeles Clippers and Chicago Bulls also had interest in signing him.
