NBA Free Agency News And Rumors: Marcus Camby Considering Joining The Miami Heat, Houston Rockets Or Chicago Bulls

Jul 22, 2013 09:35 AM EDT

After clearing waivers on Sunday, Marcus Camby is now an unrestricted free agent and is considering signing with either the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets or Chicago Bulls.

According to Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports Florida, Camby will decide on his three finalists within the next few days.

Camby accepted a buyout from the Raptors after being traded there in the deal that sent Andrea Bargnani to the Knicks, and did so specifically to have an opportunity to play for a contender.

All three teams fit Camby's criteria as either team will benefit with him signing. Camby can be an elite presence on the boards and a strong presence in the postseason, if he's healthy and able to contribute.

Camby, 39, was traded to the Toronto Raptors in the deal that sent Andrea Bargnani to the New York Knicks, and then was waived for salary reasons. He averaged 1.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in just 24 games last season for the Knicks in an injury-plagued season.

Quality bigs are in short within the free agency pool, but wherever Camby ends up, it'll certainly be for a championship contender. As far as he is into his career, he's too much of a quality player to play for anything less.
