The Open Championship is underway in Scotland at Muirfield Golf Links and the tournament has been as exciting as any of the majors this year, with Miguel Jimenez coming into Saturday with a one shot lead over a number of players, including names like Tiger Woods, Lee Westwood and Dustin Johnson, putting those players and a handful of others within striking distance of the Claret Jug as weekend play begins.

Woods had a solid opening round of two under par 69 before playing on Friday and finishing even with a 71 and that left him at two under and just one stroke behind the leader as Saturday play started up. At one point during play on Saturday Westwood took the lead over Woods, who was even through five holes, while Johnson and Stenson were right behind. Phil Mickelson also continued his solid play, staying in the top 10 after shooting a 69 and a 74 in round two.

Woods put up a two under through two rounds and that remained in line with what he has done over his recent majors, playing well on Thursday and Friday and now he needs to continue that on Saturday to stay in contention for his first major championship in 20 tries. The last time he won a major championship was back in 2008 in a playoff at the US Open that was on one knee and now he will try and add a 15th title to his resume at Muirfield, which happens to be the site of his worst career score from back in 2002 when the Open Championship was also there.

ESPN is offering streaming live and radio coverage of the tournament and Woods is giving plenty of reasons to watch, as he saved par on a number of holes on the back nine and made it through difficult conditions that others called impossible. Woods was solid off the tee and now he is in a really great spot to get a chance to win the British Open, as he is right near the top of the leaderboard and can erase five years of missing out on majors. Woods has his girlfriend Lindsey Vonn in tow with him and clearly that has been helping, as he played his best round at Muirfield in quite some time and showed that the weather won't be a factor for him as he heads into Sunday's final round.

Woods said that he felt good on the course after dealing with an elbow injury and subpar play at the US Open and now he said that he is fully healthy after sitting out between that major and the British Open. Woods has won four tournaments on tour this year, more than anyone else on the tour and now he will try and add a major championship to that as well and his wins include great performances at the Arnold Palmer Invitational as well as the Players Championship. Woods had a chance at the Masters and was playing extremely well before his fateful pin hit and subsequent ball drop controversy that say him get a penalty stroke and he still finished in the top 10. He hopes to finish at the top of the leaderboard on Sunday in Scotland.
