The Oakland Raiders have added a number of players to their defense this offseason and one player they signed is now in trouble with the law, as linebacker Kaluka Maiava and his brother have been charged with assault in a fight that took place in Maui.

According to the Maui News, Maiava and his brother were charged with assaulting two men and damaging the bar they were at, says documents from Wailuku District Court. The report says that the incident took place on March 17 at Life's a Beach in Kihei Kalama Village and now both are charged with charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and fourth-degree criminal property damage, a petty misdemeanor, which does not look good especially after the Aaron Hernandez murder trial.

The two will appear in court on July 25, the day the Raiders are set to open camp and the complaint was served on July 2. The 27-year-old linebacker signed a three-year, $6 million contract with the Raider in March after playing at USC and being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2009 with a fourth round pick.

Maiava previously played in the 2009 Rose Bowl and he also was a second-team All-Pacific-12 Conference selection in 2008 and was expected to contribute this season behind Nick Roach and Kevin Burnett at linebacker. The reports says that he is the grandson of former professional wrestler Neff Maiava, and nephew of actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
