The Dallas Mavericks missed out on Dwight Howard, but that has not kept them from being active on the free agent market, as they have signed Devin Harris to a three-year deal worth in over $9 million.

According to ESPN Dallas, the 30-year-old had a solid season last year while starting part time for the Atlanta Hawks, averaging 9.9 points and 3.4 assists and now he will play for the Mavericks again after being traded in the deal to acquire Jason Kidd. That trade in 2008 sent Harris to the Nets and he then played for the Jazz before landing with the Hawks. Harris was the fifth pick in the 2004 draft and he will officially sign the deal on Wednesday.

The Mavericks have tried to overhaul their backcourt with Harris as well as point guard Jose Calderon and now they have both players on the roster after signing Calderon to a four-year, $29 million deal to be the starter. Harris can be a starter and can come off the bench and he has proven over the years to be an above average defender as well, especially while playing in Dallas and with the Nets.

The Mavericks are going after Andrew Bynum after missing out Dwight Howard and they also have started looking at center Jermaine O'Neal. Dallas has point guard Shane Larkin after taking him with the 18th overall pick in the draft and now they have three solid players at the position after losing both O.J. Mayo and Darren Collison in free agency.
