New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is arraigned on charges of murder and weapons violations in Attleborough, Massachusetts, after being arrested, June 26, 2013. Hernandez, a 23-year-old rising football star with the New England Patriots, was arrested by police in a murder investigation and fired by the team on Wednesday, another blot on the National Football League's tightly protected image."

The Aaron Hernandez murder investigation has numerous angles and interesting side stories and after he was arrested for the shooting of Odin Lloyd, the EA Sports video game company decided to remove him from both Madden NFL 25 and NCAA Football 14.

According to Pro Football Talk, Hernandez has been fully removed from the upcoming Madden NFL 25 and NCAA Football 14, although an image of him still appears in the college game, as it was already finalized when he was arrested and charged for murder. The report says that a photo and special image still appears in the Nike Skills Trainer" part of the game, although a spokesman said that he would be removed in an update for the game in the future.

That last bit that is left was a special item players can unlock that showed a card of Hernandez in a University of Florida jersey that players can win for achieving certain milestones. The company that makes the games have edited and deleted any appearances of Hernandez, saying that it would not be right to have him the game anymore, especially since he is now no longer a New England Patriots player.

The Patriots have tried to distance themselves from the former tight end as well, allowing fans a trade-in exchange for his jersey. Hernandez was arrested two weeks ago for the murder of Odin Lloyd and he has been painted by authorities as the orchestrator of the murder. The motive behind the killing was allegedly due to Lloyd disrespecting Hernandez at a nightclub and he was tied to the scene by surveillance, text messages and video.

"We made a decision to remove Aaron Hernandez from Madden NFL 25 and NCAA Football 14. Because NCAA Football 14 was finalized prior to our decision, Hernandez' image still appears in the Nike Skills Trainer," an EA Sports spokesperson told CBSSports.com. "The image of Hernandez will be removed via a Title Update in the near future."
