After going through negotiations all year with the Giants, wide receiver Victor Cruz and the team have come to terms on a new extension, according to Fox Sports.
The deal is worth $43 million over five-years and includes north of $15 million in guaranteed money and now he will be with the Giants for the long term and the deal also includes his first-round restricted free-agent tender worth $2.879 million. Cruz has been one of the most explosive players in the league over the past two seasons and after the two sides stalled in negotiations, they finally came to an agreement in time for training camp.
The 26-year-old has been one of the leaders in the NFL over the past two seasons with 168 catches for 2,628 yards and 19 touchdowns and he is expected to sign the deal tomorrow. The deal is a sigh of relief for the Giants and Eli Manning, who wanted Cruz in before training camp and now the team can focus attention on getting Hakeem Nicks signed, as he is in the final year of his contract.
Cruz and the Giants had issues during the season and afterwards about the contract and now the two sides have come together for a deal that appears fair on both sides. Cruz is expected to put up numbers again this season as he tries to get the Giants back to the playoffs.
