Chelsea have completed their second summer signing of the season by agreeing a move for Marco Van Ginkel from Vitesse Arnhem.

The transfer fee is thought to be around £9 million ($14 million), with the Dutch international set to officially seal his move once he completes a medical and agrees on personal terms.

"Chelsea Football Club and Vitesse Arnhem have reached an agreement for the transfer of Marco van Ginkel," the club said in a statement on their official website.

"The player will join Chelsea subject to a medical, agreement of personal terms and legal documentation."

Van Ginkel is highly-rated in Holland, and Jose Mourinho was keen to bring the playmaker to Stamford Bridge, with the Portuguese manager expected to incorporate the 20-year-old straight into the first team squad.

Ajax were also extremely interested in the attacking midfielder, but had to give up the chase once Chelsea closed in.

Van Ginkel becomes Chelsea's second summer signing, following the capture of Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Blues are also expected to sign a striker this summer, with Edinson Cavani thought to be the No.1 target.

However, with Napoli refusing to lower their price of €63 million (£54 million, $83 million), Mourinho has reportedly switched his attention to the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robert Lewandowski.

Rooney is still yet to decide on his future with Manchester United and Mourinho last month expressed his admiration for the player.

Lewandowski saw a move to Bayern Munich fall through after Borussia Dortmund refused to sell the striker to their title rivals.

The Polish international only has a year remaining on his contract, and it is widely expected that he will see out the final year on his deal before sealing a free transfer to Bayern.

However, Chelsea might be able to tempt Dortmund to sell, if they can come up with an attractive package -- something that Roman Abramovich and Mourinho is definitely capable of.
