NBA Free Agency News And Rumors: Lakers Could Pursue Carlos Delfino And Aaron Brooks As Sasha Vujacic's Return Seems Possible

As they await the turnout of the Dwight Howard free agency saga to come to an end, the Los Angeles Lakers are looking for new talent to upgrade their roster and could be looking at newly free agents Carlos Delfino and Aaron Brooks.

The Houston Rockets recently waived the contracts of Delfino and Brooks, in hopes to create more cap space in order to lure Howard out of L.A.

Delfino averaged 10.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 67 games last season. It was his first year with the Rockets after spending three seasons in Milwaukee.

Brooks played in just seven games for Houston last season when the Rockets signed him after he was released by Sacramento. It was his second stint with the team after playing for Houston from 2007-11.

Though the two veterans don't put up big numbers, they could essentially bring more offense and control to the second unit. The addition of Brooks would simple be replacing the loss of Chris Duhon, and with Delfino on the roster there's a possibility he may hold as a better backup to Kobe Bryant instead of Jodie Meeks.

Either way both players could give the Lakers bench an added dynamic of a run-and-gun style of play that would surely benefit in coach Mike D'Antoni's system.

Another name that has surfaced for the Lakers is Sasha Vujacic.

Vujacic was drafted in the 2004 NBA Draft and was the Lakers 27th pick that year. Since leaving the NBA following the 2011 season, Vujacic has been playing in overseas in the Turkish Basketball League, and, according to Arash Markazi of ESPN Los Angeles, he might be looking to return to the Lakers.

Vujacic is best known in Los Angeles for his two clutch free throws to seal off the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals.
