There was a new sheriff in town at Old Trafford Monday, with David Moyes beginning his journey as Manchester United manager as he looks to fill the boots of the most successful British manager in history -- Sir Alex Ferguson.
Moyes said he is relishing the challenge of taking control of one of the biggest clubs in the world, with the former Everton boss also bringing his backroom staff from the Toffees along with him.
United confirmed the appointments of Steve Round, Chris Woods and Jimmy Lundsen as the new support staff around Moyes, with the trio replacing Mike Phelan, Eric Steele and Rene Meulensteen.
"I have worked with Steve, Chris and Jimmy for a number of years and I am delighted they have decided to join me at this great club," Moyes told the club's official website.
"They bring great qualities in their respective fields and I know that, like me, they feel that this is a challenge to relish.
"I have great faith that together, we can build upon the success this club has enjoyed over many years."
It is not just the manager's job that is seeing a change for next season, with Ferguson's great ally David Gill also stepping down as chief executive of the club, leaving Ed Woodward to take on the role, as he now looks to forge a partnership with Moyes akin to the one enjoyed by Sir Alex and Gill.
"I believe with David and his new team in place, along with our current backroom staff, we can now start preparing for the new season ahead," Woodward said.
"This is an exciting and challenging time for the club and I have great belief that David and his team will have all the energy and attributes needed to help this club continue in its long-standing traditions."
Moyes' first job as United manager will not be easy. It will be to convince Wayne Rooney to remain with the club come next season, or if the forward remains adamant on finding a new challenge, then finding the right deal for everyone involved.
There are a few areas where Moyes needs to strengthen and as Ferguson always said the most important time to improve a squad is right after winning the title.
The Scot has reportedly made a bid for Leighton Baines, with his former club insisting the left-back is not for sale.
Strengthening the midfield is also a priority with Thiago Alcanatara thought to be closing in on a move from Barcelona.
The likes of Kevin Strootman and Marouane Fellaini have also been linked and it will be interesting to see what kind of business Moyes and Woodward do, with the summer transfer window officially opening on July 1.
